Hello there! I’m Dawn Perkins.

I’m a pretty simple girl. I love tea and good food and having my family around me. I have an incurable “geeky” side, and love all things techie. I write because I can’t keep my thoughts to myself, but I don’t always know what to write next. Don’t worry, it’ll come to me. Some of it might even make sense to you.
I’m a Deadhead (as in the Grateful kind), I write, I play with Photoshop and HTML and URLs. I’m an Autism Mom. My chickens are were my favorite pets, but sadly, we moved and couldn’t keep them. Our ever-shedding Pomeranians are not. My musical tastes span genres from jam bands, blues, 80’s hair bands and metal to yes, even country. I enjoy pretty much anything with good guitar jams and a beat.
I love caramel lattes, very dark chocolate, and strawberries. Given the choice, I’ll eat ice cream at the birthday party and skip the cake. I lost 52# in 2014, working my bootie off doing HIIT. Now I work it to keep it off. I like wine, I don’t drink pop, and I love to lift heavy weights. I like to run but I’m not so great about getting out the door to do it.
I’m a former homeschooling Mom of over 19 years, usually happily but sometimes not. My youngest two are graduated, as of this year (2020). I’m also a Gramma, eleven (yes, E_L_E_V_E_N) times, with baby #12 due any day now.
My husband and I have been married 25 years and we make our home in Eastern Washington. It is the land of four seasons, two of which I despise. (The hot one and the cold, snowy one.) I’m a coastal girl trapped in the Inland Northwest but I’m making the best of it. When I can’t, we take off for the Oregon coast or Hawaii. Anywhere with sand and salty waves. We prefer Hawaii. Our bank account likes the local river. 🙂
This blog is my brain dump, my second time around blog, and the place where I freely write about whatever I can’t stop from pouring out. It could be insightful or snarky, and it will definitely have a healthy dose of my opinion. In the blogging world, we call it “being real” or “writing transparently”. Whatever. Eventually, it will be my only blog, but for the time being I also still have my homeschool mom blog at The Momma Knows.
